I'LL TELL YOU A STORY

Since their birth, human beings have had an urge. That of storytelling. This has happened since our ancestors drew hunting scenes on cave walls, to pass on their experience to posterity.

 

Over the years, storytelling has turned out to be a powerful tool, able to forge minds, destroy prejudices, break down barriers.

“When you look back through history, you can see that stories have always played an important part in our lives.” (Dahlström, 2019)

​

Over the centuries it has taken different forms. One of the most modern one is that of blogging. Almost everyone nowadays has one, as it is one of the most accessible and powerful way to reach people.

​

One of the key points of storytelling is sharing with others by creating a sense of community. “Communities bring people together: people who share the same values and beliefs have a strong sense of belonging and pride.” (Malinic, 2019, p.148)

 

This is the reason why I decided to create this blog as my final assessment and share with you my recent experience during Unit 4, Message/Audience/Context of my Postgraduate Course in Graphic Design and Art Direction at Manchester Metropolitan University.

My name is Viviana Di Miceli, I am a young creative and I am going to tell you the story of how I gradually became aware of my potential and my skills as a designer, as well as how I have overcome my weaknesses, my uncertainties, and my doubts and I finally stepped out of my comfort zone.
